Mission:

To support people in need by redistributing surplus food and building a community that shares kindness through food. Their work targets households facing financial difficulty, especially single-parent families, and people dealing with social isolation.
 

Who we are

Food Bank Meguro is a non-profit organization that collects safe, surplus food from individuals, businesses, and farms.

It then redistributes this food to households in need in Meguro-ku, especially those with children, low-income earners, and people in vulnerable situations.
 

Through food, they provide not just nutrition, but care, hope and dignity.
 

Our activities

• Food Collection & Redistribution

  • ​Collecting unopened, safe-to-eat food from homes, schools, local community and companies.

  • Sorting and packing food by volunteers

  • Distributing directly to registered households or through welfare groups

• Monthly Support Packages

  • Regular deliveries to single-parent households, welfare recipients, and the working poor

  • Food is delivered directly or picked up at set locations in Meguro

• Emergency Food Support

  • Providing urgent food assistance to households in sudden crisis

  • Partnering with social workers, welfare officers, and schools to identify urgent needs

• Community Partnerships & Education

  • Collaborating with local businesses and schools

  • Raising awareness of food insecurity and food waste

The challenges we face

• Logistics Strain: Delivering, sorting, and storing food takes ongoing funding and volunteer effort
